BET PGCE Programme
We are pleased to be working with Bath Spa university (“Bath Spa”) to deliver a Postgraduate Certificate of Education. BET and Bath Spa have worked closely for several years to establish a popular PGCE programme which delivers excellent outcomes for students. Key members of BET work alongside colleagues within the School for Education at Bath Spa to provide a high quality, school-centred bespoke model of teacher training. The BET PGCE Programme helps you to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and also a PGCE and is one of the largest collaborations within the Bath Spa Secondary PGCE. Your school training will take place across the following BET schools:-
These schools are local to Bath Spa and they help to combine the advantages of school based training alongside the support and academic rigour of a traditional university led PGCE. During the PGCE year BET schools help to deliver the Professional Studies (PS) and Situated Learning (SL) aspects of the PGCE. In addition, the BET PGCE Programme provides two teaching placements within two of the BET schools (listed above) in order to complete your school practice. During the time you spend in schools you will develop as a class practitioner and you will be supported in achieving the criteria listed within the Teachers’ Standards. Overall, the BET PGCE Programme enables you to work with experts from within the University and from across the BET schools and you will be provided with both theoretical and class based learning. Previous participants have this to say:- "BET has given me a really good opportunity to work in some fantastic schools in Bath, and receive training from top professionals. Having a structured programme for professional development across the Bath area has allowed me to learn the different ways that schools try to achieve the same object of excellent student outcomes” Tom Spence - Maths Teacher at Oldfield school “I can say that my PGCE at Bath Spa University undertaken via the BET programme has definitely taught me everything I needed to become an inspired – and hopefully inspiring – teacher. Since then I have progressed my career in a BET school to deputy and now acting Head of Modern Foreign Languages”. Caroline Sans, acting Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Ralph Allen School “I felt supported in a friendly community of professionals and local schools. The schools within BET have a range of ethos' and structures. This helps you recognise what sort of school will best suit you and enable your teaching career to flourish”. Amy Walsh, Science NQT, Ralph Allen School If you are interested in the BET PGCE Programme, please contact partnership@bathspa.ac.uk If you have any connection with or experience of working in any of the schools listed above or have children currently studying at the schools, please let Bath Spa know. |
